New Emerging Markets Are the Engine for Refrigerant Gas in Year 2025

In 2025, overseas demand for refrigerants and downstream refrigeration products in China showed strong growth, becoming an important support for the demand side. Looking at export data, from January to September 2025, China exported 87.671 million air conditioners, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%, with exports to Southeast Asia increasing by 15.3% and exports to Africa by 12.8%; automobile exports reached 5.863 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 22.5%, with exports to Southeast Asia and South America increasing by 30.1% and 25.7% respectively.

The growth in downstream product exports directly boosted refrigerant exports: From January to September 2025, China's HFCs refrigerant exports reached 185,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%, with an export value of 3.26 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.7%. Among them, R32 exports to Southeast Asia reached 52,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 18.5%; R134a exports to South America reached 38,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%. The growth in overseas demand has effectively offset the pressure of production schedule fluctuations in some domestic sectors, providing refrigerant companies with a stable source of orders.
